The only caveat about this way is that rendering takes longer. The Minkowski sum of any two solid shapes is a well defined set and the reference point for the shape that moves does not have to be a sphere. The solid form that results from the union is the cube that is slightly bigger than the original cube by the radius of the sphere and with rounded corners.

So is there any hope to get this working properly? Using OpenSCAD I show you how to create a basic project enclosure. I didn't get my head around the minkowski() function yet but it doesn't look like it would solve the problem either. I understand that the linear extrusion of each edge is the problem because it won't follow the curve defines on another plane. The edges are good but the corners are not smooth.

Then I tried to make something with hulls of circles in each plane, then intersect all 3 planes. A script in the OpenSCAD language is used to create 2D or 3D models. I tried something with hull() and spheres but that didn't work correctly.
